knitting:
i've started another scrap blanket
this time, in the fuchsia colour spectrum...
i have a real love/hate relationship with this colour
in some light it looks so bright and happy... but then after a while, the garishness factor starts to roll in
i'm excited because my neighbour just gifted me some of her left over yarn in blues and teals that might blend nicely into this experiment.
reading:
i'm really enjoying graeme simsion's the rosie project.
it's easy and fun reading - a welcome reprieve after world war themed novels.
written in the perspective of an adult on the autism spectrum, the book gives one a glance of how autism affects a certain segment of society.
talk about syncronicity... while reading this book, i stumbled upon a great documentary
called too sane for this world.
if your are interested in understanding the challenges of the autism community... this is a must watch film.
i only have a few chapters to go before finishing and hopefully i will be able to read its sequel the rosie effect.
what are you knitting and reading lately?
care to share?

Your blanket looks lovely - I love bright! My MIL recommended those two books too, so I really must get to them. Have you read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime? About a boy on the autism spectrum.
ReplyDeleteYes.. i loved 'The Curious...", i kept thinking about it as i read The Rosie Project. Both books brought much out so much giggling from this reader.
DeleteThe blanket is looking good. The Rosie Project is sitting on the coffee table here, it is my moms current read :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kirm...Is your mom enjoying the book?
DeleteSuch a pretty blanket! I keep hearing wonderful things about The Rosie Project, but didn't know there was a sequel, even better!
ReplyDeleteit's a great read Tracey... really quick and funny!!! I'm gonna start the sequel (unfortunately... i'm hearing from my friends that it isn't as wonderful as the first one)
DeleteIt's a lovely blanket - I'm crocheting a ripple blankie at the moment and every now and then I look at the colour I'm working and wonder if it's all a huge mistake and then two rows later thinnest colours have balanced it out and I love it again - perhaps that's what's happening when your blanket goes garish - it just needs the next balancing row?
ReplyDeleteThanks Carrie... you so are right about the balancing rows. after reading your comment I've just found some neutral camels that i could use to do just that !!!
DeleteI need to start one of those blankets! I have plenty of scrap yarn...I haven't heard of the books, but they sound interesting. I might look into them. I need something lighthearted because I have been reading so much non-fiction lately!
ReplyDeleteYou should... these scrap blankets are so much fun to do. And yes - if you are looking for lighthearted reading, the Rosie Project would be a great pick - promising lots of giggles
DeleteYour blanket is pretty. I love the bright fuchsia. I can see how it could be garish though. You just have to blend in some of those calming colors.
ReplyDeletethanks Cathie- i'm going to try some camel and some greys to calm down the garish !!!
DeleteMy current project is being worked in a similar colorway which I'm just loving! Bright and just perfect for the late winter when a little color is so needed!
ReplyDeleteit is perfect for brightening things up... Thanks for popping by Lisa
DeleteBeautiful blanket! Makes me think of my peonies that I am wishing for right now. I'm working with pale pink which I love knitting with.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah... I took a peak at your pale pink knit... it's lovely. Thanks for popping by
DeleteI love that color!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wanda !!!
DeleteI loved The Rosie Project! The audio version was excellent. Looking forward to the sequel!
ReplyDeleteit would be a good one to listen to in audio !!! Thanks Laura.
DeleteThis is the second place I have heard rave reviews about The Rosie Project this week. I will definitely try to get my hands on it!
ReplyDeleteI love your blanket. It looks so lovely and cozy!
