thrifted threads: stripe-ing indigo

well, i kind of blended right into my bedsheets here...
maybe the camouflage is indicative of something???

too late now, because it's 'what i wore' wednesday and
i'm linking up with lindsey at the pleated poppy.

this time, i did all my shopping in my closet !

the weather has turned beautiful and warm in victoria,bc, so we, islanders, are able to dig out
our summer wear and sandals but we also keep our woolies handy, because the ocean breeze
will blow in the evenings and put a chill on everything.

this first ensemble is a tunic tie dye dress over a pair of striped cotton elastic waisted pants

i found the dress in a sales bin at our local bubble tea shop
long ago when they still carried a line of thai apparel.
the striped cotton pants, i picked up in mexico a few years ago.

the deep indigo shade of this dress had caught my eye.
f.y.i. (indigo ranks high in my faves of colours)

in this second outfit, i've paired the same blue striped pants
with a white long sleeve tunic (label says: gap) and an indigo silk scarf.

the white shirt was a hand-me-down from one of my sisters (probably from 17 years ago)
it has gotten softer and more comfortable over the years,
and it has stayed intact despite all the numerous washings.

though it probably photographed worst because of the camo effect,
this next outfit is a favourite, i love love love stripes and floral combos...

i found this floral skirt at the now defunct S&R,
it was a local retailer housed in this beautiful limestone building
in kingston ontario for over 50 years.
to me S&R symbolized the ability of smaller businesses to survive the monstrous merciless
national chains.  it closed its doors in 2009 and this skirt was part of the huge clearance sale.

if you are from kingston, do you remember S&R's large creepy elevator
that was operated by some strange (but very friendly) guy??

finally, this blue/black striped dress was all i wore last summer
after finding it while getting groceries with my sisters at the superstore in calgary, alberta.

i love the shapelessness of the cut...
it's brilliant fashion for that summer buddha belly.

are you ready for summer?
they're predicting hot hot hot for our neck of the woods...

xoxo
