yesterday, we put our dancing shoes on and went to fernfest.
the corner of fernwood and balmoral was buzzing with energy !!!
fernfest is a unique neighbourhood music and arts festival that began in 1995.
loads of volunteers and local businesses come together to make this possible.
the neighbourhood was already grooving with 'medana'
(a brazilian, cuban, latino band) when we got there.
all the free spirits had their west coast colours on and were dancing to the latino beat.
fernwood square was filled to the rim with people... mostly from the hood.
all have come to celebrate the spirit of community and summer solstice!!!
fernfest always showcases the very best of victoria's vibrant local music scene.
there was a different band every hour.. each one guaranteed amazing talent.
did i mention that this event was free?
did i mention that this event was free?
with so many free spirits.. it's difficult not to get your groove on.
and there were so many other things going on too...
of course i had to stroll through the artisans' market...
the smell of buttered popcorn... was overwhelming...
we couldn't help but buy a bag
and if you got thirsty from all this ...
there was a beer garden conveniently located in the middle of it all.
ian enjoyed the lonetree cider on tap !!!
yes, it was a great way to celebrate the longest day of the year !!!
hope everyone had a wonderful solstice weekend...
