knitting:
yes... my fuchsia scrap blanket is now off the needles
and is currently hanging as a quasi-headboard in one of the bedrooms.
i'm really pleased with how it has turned out.
it was a challenge at first,
but somehow i was able to tone down the garishness of the fuchsia
with balancing rows of blues and browns.
the exercise of combining different colours of scrap yarn is such fun mental rigour congruent to a big jigsaw puzzle.
it is very addictive!!!
so i've started another one (HA...you can call me the blanket lady)
inspired by some of the blue glassware by my window
reading:
i finished gillian flynn's gone girl
i don't know what to say... but it took me till past half way through the book to get interested in the story.
the main characters are seriously warped - but i thought flynn did a great job developing them to be pychologically believable !!!
ian and i watched the movie last night- it was fun to watch but i thought rosamund pike's interpretation of phycho amy needed a little more crazy.
i can't recommend this book as a must-read (unless of course, you are into the psycho mental abuse genre)

and now i've also started marilynne robinson's lila (so far, so beautiful....)

It looks awesome!!! And love the blue one you are working on. You are reading all the books on my to read list :) Lila is one there too.
ReplyDeletelove your blanket and the way you are displaying it! I am not reading gone girl, doesn't sound like something I'm interested in. I've read some of her other books and they were too violent and graphic for my sensitive soul.
ReplyDeleteBlanket Lady, I love it and your blanket too, it gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on Gone Girl, I detested it from the beginning to the end, but I paid for it so I finished it. I also read another one of Gillian's books to give her another try, nope, not my cup of tea.
I have Lila on my to be read list, I've heard it's wonderful.
The blanket looks lovely - what gorgeous colours!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I would like Gone Girl, so I haven't bothered to read it. I have the movie on hold at the library though - I will watch a bit to see if I want to see the whole thing but as graphic and violent are definitely not for me, I may not watch it.
Look at you go on those blankets! It's a great way to use up that yarn. I still have not read Gone Girl either. I have so many books I want to read and I haven't heard great reviews of it so I think I shall pass.
ReplyDeleteWow, impressive blanket love the colour combinations.
ReplyDeleteYour blanket looks beautiful, the colors are really stunning! But I especially love your blue one, I have a deep love for blues. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blanket!
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is great looking, Erica! I've been a "blanket lady", too, since winter started, but I'm ready to move on to other things. Some quick projects like hats and scarves sounds just about right.
