they really do
look like
drops of snow
clusters of white
covering the sheltered whereabouts
along the pathways
through the woods
whiteness so pure
little beads of clarity
after a season of glitter
emblems of fresh starts and new beginnings
the children pray
let it snow... let it snow...please, let it snow
and cover us with your blankets of white
dreaming of hills and sleds,
blades on ice,
and three tiered men of rolled up fun
but the gifter at the door
is not winter but spring
being overly generous with buckets of rain
and more and more of the same
