i found some gorgeous yarn at the thrift shop a while back.
there wasn't very much of it... just a single ball
it had all these lovely shades of purple in it: eggplant, mauves, and lavenders
i bought it not knowing what i would use it for
in the process of decluttering this weekend
the ball of yarn reappeared from the underbelly of my knitting basket.
remembering that i had some purple yarn left from another project,
i thought i would just try and see if i could combine the two and make a scarf.
the colour match was perfect !!
i'm really happy with how it's looking so far...
i've got my fingers crossed that it will
finish long enough
to wrap around.

my fingers are crossed that it will be long enough it's beautiful. if not, you can sew the ends together and make a cowl :) Great solution and lucky for you to find such pretty yarn.
ReplyDeletea cowl is a wonderful idea... thanks Karen!!

DeleteWow that's a wonderful color combination! Like wisteria flowers.
ReplyDeleteyou are right... it does look wisteria..ish !!!
DeleteSuch a wonderful idea to combine the yarns!
ReplyDeletei love combining yarns...and seeing what patterns in texture and colours i can create.
DeleteI love it! I love how the colors are working so well together and I love that you are able to use that thrift store yarn even though you didn't have much to work with. Very creative!
ReplyDeletei love finding uses for odds and ends that i rescue from the thrift stores... it brings creativity to another level !!
DeleteI love it when you score a good find at a thrift store! Congrats! I was excited last Saturday because I found a bag of three (mostly full) skeins of expensive yarn at Goodwill--on half price day nonetheless! It cost me $1.50! I am going to combine the green and variegated chunky yarns into a cowl and use the light green speckled yarn to make baby hats! I echo the advice of Karen, cowls usually only take one skein or less. I have been on a "one-skein gift" kick lately!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see what you found at the goodwill and some of your one-skein gifts ! Thanks for popping in
DeleteI love that nubby yarn. I have got to visit my local thrift stores more often. Beautiful.
