moment: 01/16/15

a moment
a friday ritual, a single photo (sorry...i'm cheating this week !!!),
no words, capturing a moment from the week
a simple, special, extraordinary moment
i want to pause, savour and
remember.

drops of snow

they really do
look like
drops of snow

clusters of white
covering the sheltered whereabouts
along the pathways
through the woods

whiteness so pure
little beads of clarity
after a season of glitter
emblems of fresh starts and new beginnings

the children pray
let it snow... let it snow...please, let it snow
and cover us with your blankets of white
dreaming of hills and sleds,
blades on ice,
and three tiered men of rolled up fun

but the gifter at the door
is not winter but spring
being overly generous with buckets of rain
and more and more of the same

thrifted threads: beaded treasure

it's another 'what i wore' wednesday
and i'm linking up with lindsey
at the pleated poppy for some fashion fun.

i had to meet up with some fellow steppers
for coffee after the gym yesterday...
and i needed something easy to put on and throw in my backpack
since there wasn't any time to pop back home beforehand.
so this was my outfit:
a crumpled (because it was shoved into a gym bag) long sleeve tshirt ;
 yoga pants (because i was cycling there and back);
and a thrifted rainbow beaded necklace i found over a year ago.
let's just say... the necklace made the outfit.
it is a really lovely piece
that could be worn with so many colours.
when you study it closely... it looks hand crafted.
i love the gold chain and the weighted gold beads at the end of each strand.
we had a wonderful time over coffee...
i've been stepping with some of these women for over 10 years now
and it is always such a treat to meet up and see how we look
after a shower and out of our gym attire.

after the holidays, everyone seemed to have
 a chocolate confession to share.
(i think that you've already heard mine...)

happy humpday everyone !!!

knitting and reading: 01/13/15

simple knits...
that's where i'm at.

one of my resolutions for 2015 is to make more gifts.
my needles are busy attempting some ideas for dishcloths.
so far, i'm only onto to my second piece
but am excited to showcase the set
once they are completed.

i'm still in the middle of re-reading the catcher in the rye
i had to stop because the copy my son lent me was missing a couple of pages,
so i'm waiting for a fresh copy from the library before i continue on holden's quest.

in the meantime, i finished me before you by jojo moyes.
it was a page turner... a love story like no other.
if you haven't read it yet,
i'm warning you now...you'll need a couple of boxes of tissues.

what are you knitting or reading lately?
care to share?

hello monday 01/12/15

hello friends...
i hope monday finds you
well rested and rejuvenated from the weekend.

we had a lovely, quiet, snugly kind of weekend...
lots of exercise... early during the day
then immediately back into pjs as soon as we got home.

our teens hosted a little party on friday night
that ian and i are still recuperating from (talk about getting old...)
for two glorious days,
i did a lot of reading and knitting and baking and more of the same.

but wow... monday, you are here already
so here are some hellos to greet the new week.
hello morning coffee... i love love love waking up to you

hello grocery list ... i must get more honey and cinnamon
for this honey and cinnamon kick i'm in.

hello 5 minute ab workout (i sure hope this belly buster works...)

hello sewing machine (my sister gave me her spare
and i am so excited to relearn how to use one)

hello learning and growing and trying new ideas.

hello monday and brand new beautiful week.

long shadows

it was another bring your dog to work day.
harlow was so excited....
he didn't bother finishing his breakfast.
he jumped onto the back seat of ian's truck... so fast and furious...
his tail waggling his bye byes.

i was on my own,
me, myself and i,
with a few errands to run.

i didn't get very far
when i noticed my companion.
she was long and leggy,
over 10 feet tall,
sporting a baseball cap,
and an enormous bag slung on her shoulder.
it was sooo cool...
because she walked by my side for the most of the journey
not in front of me, or hehind me... but right along side of me.
i darted in and out of shops.
picking up small groceries, some stamps, and my holds from the library.
when my bags were loaded and heavy...
i noticed hers were too.

together...
we headed for home.
